Artemisine, the Wonder Medicine from China
Artemisine is the most important cure of malaria today. Its origin goes back to ancient China. Today it is becoming one of the most important bases of medicine.
Artemisine was already used for medical purposes in China some 2,000 years ago. On 1950 it was refound. Professor Zhan Yi from the University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine of Guangxi participated in the team that restarted the research of that medicine. He was in charge of the research that proved that artemisine cures 100 % of all malaria patients.
In Heidelberg German Cancer Research Center professor Thomas Efferth has discovered that artemisine is a very efficient medicine against many types of cancer. The problem is that artemisine is a plant and
therefore cannot be patented. This diminishes severely the attempts to get financing for large clinical research.
