In parts of Burma, Thailand and Malaysia there still lives a small tribe of marine herdsmen whose lives are governed by the changes of the sea and the moon.
They are poor people and often called
"dirty" because of their darkish complexion. Many of them die as a result of malnutrition or diving disease.
Twice a year at full moon they push out their small ceremonial boats to carry away evil spirits and bad luck.
For all their efforts, their life and beliefs, language and culture are
disappearing in the face of the modern world.
