The Chinese HIV home test
In China the researchers have developed an HIV test that is simple, fast and cheap. The test is easy to take at home, for instance. The cost is only a fraction of the cost of West commercial tests.
Until today, in developing countries and in China tests have been very difficult to carry out. One has to travel to the test locations, the transportation of the
blood samples need a cold transport chain, and one has to return after a fortnight to the test location to listen to the results. The new Chinese test is so cheap that the aid organizations can afford to buy and hand them out to the patients. This test does not remove AIDS but it removes uncertainty and helps to prohibit new infections.2007 Nanning, China 4'28
